Kentucky: Board of Dentistry

The Board consists of nine members, each appointed by the Governor. Seven members of the Board are dentists licensed in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. These members are appointed from a list of three names recommended for each Board position by the resident licensed dentists of Kentucky. These nominees are selected at an annual election at a time and place selected by the board.

One member of the Board is a dental hygienist licensed in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, who is appointed from a list of three names recommended for this position by the resident licensed dental hygienists of Kentucky at an annual election at a time and place selected by the Board.

One member of the Board is a citizen at large. This member shall not be associated with or financially interested in the practice or business of dentistry.

Each member of the Board holds office for four years and cannot serve more than two consecutive terms.

David Narramore, DMD - President
Whitesburg (zone 4)

Dr. Narramore was appointed to the Board effective July 1, 2005, and is serving his second term which will expire June 30, 2009. He graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1989, was licensed in 1989, and currently practices general dentistry.

Susan M. King, DMD
Louisville (zone 1)

Dr. King was appointed to the Board effective July 1, 2008, and is serving her first term which will expire June 30, 2012. She graduated from the University of Louisville in 1985 and was licensed in 1985. She currently practices general dentistry.

Hank Sleet, DMD, MD - Secretary / Treasurer
Florence (zone 3)

Dr. Sleet was appointed to the Board effective July 1, 2006, and is serving his first term which will expire June 30, 2010. He graduated from the University of Louisville in 1997 and was issued a specialty license in oral surgery in 1997. Dr. Sleet currently practices oral surgery.

James R. Allen, DMD
Prospect (zone 1)

Dr. Allen was appointed to the Board effective July 1, 2006, and is serving his first term which will expire June 30, 2010. He graduated from the University of Louisville in 1965, was licensed in 1965, and currently practices general dentistry.

William Boggess, DMD
Greenville(zone 6)

Dr. Boggess was appointed to the Board effective December 3, 2007 and is serving his first term which will expire June 30, 2011. He graduated from the University of Louisville in 1994, was licensed in 1994, and currently practices general dentistry.

Dianne Embry, RDH
Morgantown

Ms. Embry was appointed to the Board effective August 4, 2006, and is serving her first term which will expire June 30, 2010. She graduated from Western Kentucky University in 2001, was licensed in 2001, and currently practices dental hygiene.

Julie Gaskill, DDS
Bowling Green (zone 5)

Dr. Gaskill was appointed to the Board effective July 1, 2005, and is serving her second term which will expire June 30, 2009. She graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1985 and was issued a Kentucky specialty license in oral surgery in 1991. Dr. Gaskill currently practices oral surgery.

Gregory Vance, DMD
Lexington (zone 2)

Dr. Vance was appointed to the Board effective December 3, 2007, and is serving his first term which will expire June 30, 2011. He graduated from the University of Louisville in 2000, was licensed in 2001, and licensed as a periodontist in 2003.

Allan Francis
Elizabethtown

Mr. Francis was appointed to the Board effective July 1, 2008, and is serving his first term which will expire June 30, 2012. He serves as the Board's citizen at-large member.
