Specialists
Dentists may not advertise or hold themselves out to the public as a specialist unless they hold a Kentucky specialist's license.
A specialist's practice is limited to the practice of the specialty only. If the practice is not limited to the specialty only, the specialty license will be revoked.

Specialty Examinations |
 |
Specialty examinations are clinical and written. Two specialists in each field of specialty hold examinations generally once a year (varying upon the applicants) with a member of the board office proctoring the exam. The board office acts as a liason to the examiners, who decide when the exam will be held.
The completed application and all its components must be on file at the board office 30 days prior to the exam date. It is the applicant's responsibility to call the board office to check on the status of their application and exam date.
Contact Sylvester Gurnell at the Board office with questions regarding specialty applications and exam dates.
